Here, I made a Youtube video as well as an EdPuzzle to create a digital lesson that students can follow along with. My inspiration came from the Modern Classrooms Project, which works to create student-centered classrooms. In these classrooms, students watch online lessons and take notes at their own pace, allowing each student to learn in the way they know best, and allowing teachers to have more time to work individually with students. The EdPuzzle goes along with the video, and checks for student understanding throughout the lesson. Click the EdPuzzle button to be taken to my EdPuzzle I created.
Reflection journal:Â
Out of all of the tools we've used in class, my favorite tools were Flip, creating a website, learning about Nearpod and other digital assessment tools, and EdPuzzle. I really liked both Flip and creating a website because I was able to express my personality in unique ways, such as with the general theme of the website and the various different tools that Flip offered. Nearpod and EdPuzzle are also great tools for actually teaching in a classroom. I like how interactive they are and how they seem to be very easy for both teachers with and without strong technological backgrounds. I wasn't familiar with EdPuzzle before this class, but I will definitely use it in my future classroom. The only tool I disliked was Screencastify- I couldn't get my face to show up on 2 different computers I used, and ended up having to use a different software to complete the assignment.. I have a fairly strong technological background (I made my dad's business website when I was 12 and was in a "Girls Who Code" program in high school), so I would say the tools are all a lot easier than I had expected. However, I do feel a lot better and more knowledgeable about educational technology after this class. I feel like instead of having just broad technological knowledge, I have a lot more tools in my tool bucket that I am able to use when teaching without having to learn a whole new system or website. In essence, I feel a lot more prepared to teach my students Spanish in an era where technology reigns supreme.
